THE PERFECT CONNECTION TO THE SKI

The ski binding is one of the most important accessories when skiing. It is often integrated into the ski, but there are also models with interchangeable bindings. The complexly constructed parts enable you to optimally transfer the muscle power of your legs to your skis. The ski bindings also influence the reaction of the skis and allow you to ascend. Especially in freeriding, the bindings also function as a safety element.

In particularly tricky situations, they ensure that the ski releases from you in time. This reduces the risk of injury enormously. Together with the stoppers, the ski bindings also prevent the boards from sliding down the mountain without you. As you can see, ski bindings are an indispensable part of your equipment. Now all you have to do is find the right product.

SKI BINDINGS THAT MEET THE DIN STANDARD

For safety reasons, it is also important to know the DIN or Z-value of the binding. This is the release value of the ski binding. The binding should open and release the ski when the limit value of a certain torque is exceeded. When buying a ski binding, it is also best to pay attention to the extent to which the binding can be adjusted and that you can set an individual value. In this context, we speak of the so-called "Z-value". The individual Z-value is calculated from your height, weight, age, the length of the ski boot sole and your skiing behaviour or ability. For some models, the Z-value is indicated on the product and thus provides an important orientation.

FRONT AND REAR BINDINGS MADE OF HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS

The bindings you will find in our range are made of stable raw materials. To keep the weight as low as possible, the brands often use magnesium, carbon or titanium as materials. Stainless steel elements ensure a long service life and more stability. The climbing wedges and foot plates can usually be adjusted. User-friendly systems allow you to adjust the contact pressure and the Z-value. High-quality front and rear jaws fix the boot firmly to the ski with stable springs and ensure optimum power transmission. So you can enjoy a smooth descent without any annoying jolting.

THE SPECIAL AREAS OF APPLICATION FOR SKI BINDINGS

Bindings are available for park and powder skiing as well as for freeriding, touring and piste skiing. In the models for freeriding and touring, a low stand height facilitates the ascent and improves stability at the same time. The oversized platform optimises responsiveness, especially for precise turns as well as for power transmission. These special ski bindings comply with various DIN norms and standards.

Some models are compatible with many different freeride and touring skis. Some bindings can be switched from downhill to ascent mode and vice versa with a simple click of the pole. The Park & Powder ski bindings have a particularly low weight, a low construction height and high release values. They create a lively skiing sensation, are stable and can withstand swinging landings.

With ski bindings for the piste, the so-called alpine ski bindings, the focus is primarily on stability. Many alpine ski bindings have a so-called base as a connection between the front and rear jaws. At the same time, it ensures effective power transmission and is therefore used in particular for racing skis. Alpine ski bindings are the classic among ski bindings, because with them you are well equipped for slalom, mogul pistes or fast descents. Typical of this type of binding are two brackets next to the binding that act as a braking system. In the event of a fall, the braking system prevents the ski from sliding down into the valley on its own. If you are standing in the binding, the brake brackets naturally go up.

IMPORTANT FEATURES OF SKI BINDINGS

There is nothing to discuss about the advantages and weaknesses of ski bindings in general, because without this accessory you cannot practise your winter sport. The perfect ski binding for you must have some important characteristics, no matter what kind of skiing you do.

  • optimal transfer of muscle power to the ski
  • better controllability of the skis
  • easy ascent
  • more safety due to quick release of the boot from the ski
  • firm connection of the boot to the ski
