THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGES OF A RUNNING VEST
It's not only in April that the weather turns capricious. Even in summer, you can suddenly find yourself standing in the rain or the wind blows harshly in your face. This is particularly unpleasant when you are jogging, because a break in your training is very detrimental. In such cases, it is good to have a light and warm running waistcoat with you that guarantees full freedom of movement.
Warmth but also cooling: Running waistcoats are warm enough to protect the muscles from cooling down. At the same time, they are breathable enough to prevent overheating. Waistcoats also offer good weather protection.
Light weight: Vests are generally convincing because of their light weight. Some models are practically unnoticeable on the body ? and they fit in any backpack as a backup garment.
RUNNING WAISTCOATS: WHAT MATERIALS ARE THERE?
Innovative functional textiles are often used for the production of running waistcoats, just as they are for running trousers and running jackets in the running range. These synthetic fibres are wind- and water-repellent, but at the same time breathable and highly insulating. They let moisture out, but keep the rain away from you and dry quickly. Special impregnations even allow for completely waterproof and windproof running waistcoats. Premium running waistcoats are filled with polyester as well as natural materials such as down.
WHAT ARE THE PROPERTIES OF A RUNNING WAISTCOAT?
When buying a running waistcoat online, it is important to consider certain details to find the perfect model for you. In our running waistcoat shop, we therefore offer models from the best brands and with the following important functional features:
- With/without pocket(s): if you like to carry some money, your house keys or other items, a waistcoat with sealed zipped pockets is recommended.
- With/without hood: A variant of the running waistcoat is the running hoodie. This is a sleeveless hooded jacket. The hood protects you in strong winds and can be adjusted with a cord.
- Reflectors: Reflective elements increase your safety when jogging at night, at dusk and in cloudy weather.
- Breathability: Some models have laser-cut perforations for extra breathability.
- Moisture transport: Many running waistcoats are equipped with the properties of classic functional clothing, ensuring that moisture is transported away quickly while the body remains pleasantly warm and dry and the running waistcoat does not become soaked with sweat.
HOW SHOULD A RUNNING WAISTCOAT FIT?
Running waistcoats, like the rest of your running gear, are cut close to your body but still elastic. They hug your body softly. Pay particular attention to the fit of your running waistcoat: it should fit snugly so that it doesn't interfere with your running and flap ? this also reduces wind penetration. However, it should not restrict your freedom of movement. A simple test: move your arms in all directions and let them circle once. The waistcoat should not slip uncomfortably or pinch anywhere. Running waistcoats with elastic side inserts and stretchy cuffs provide extra comfort.
THE BEST RUNNING WAISTCOATS FOR EVERY SEASON
Winter running waistcoats
A warming running waistcoat is ideal for winter. The lined or quilted models impress with their low weight. To prevent cold air from entering your body, practically all models in our running waistcoat shop are cut rather tightly and have a stand-up collar that closes high. The most sensitive parts of the waistcoat, such as the chest and back, are also padded so that you don't cool down so quickly while running.
Running waistcoats for summer
Summer waistcoats are even lighter and not quite as warm. Ventilation inserts and other ventilation systems as well as moisture-regulating materials ensure that you don't sweat so quickly and always stay nice and dry, even during physical exertion. For extra breathability, some models are equipped with laser-cut perforations.
Running waistcoats for the transitional season
For wet and cold spring and autumn days, a waistcoat is ideal to protect you from wind and weather. This is made possible by modern functional materials such as GoreTex and Sympatex, which are highly waterproof. In addition, taped seams ensure that water cannot penetrate the jacket.
HOW (OFTEN) SHOULD YOU WASH RUNNING WAISTCOATS?
You should always wash premium functional underwear such as running waistcoats separately from other textiles and pay attention to the colour sorting. When washing your running waistcoats, always turn them inside out and close the Velcro straps and zips carefully. This minimises abrasion of the outer functional layers. It is best to use the gentle cycle or the wool wash programme on your washing machine and not to spin. If you do, use a maximum of 600 revolutions. Under no circumstances should you use fabric softener, as this will settle in the fabric and clog the pores that ensure breathability. Waistcoats with down filling must also be treated with a special down detergent.
