Square and twisted - all the "Twirls" and "twists" that seem to be the trend at present in the string market. And then there?s the tornado. The idea is actually quite simple and it is surprising that nothing has come before it: In addition to the square structure (in this case, heptagonal) the string gets an even rougher surface through the "axial rotation", it "bites" as more into the ball and therefore creates even more spin.
While playing the tornado behaves a bit softer and slightly faster than the previously known Plasma HEXtreme from Signum Pro - similar to when we compare with Hyperion Poly Plasma is. In both cases, however, the following applies: The square versions are by design a little harder than the round. And due to the rough surface, the longitudinal and transverse strings ?saw? each other and hence tear and break faster. My advice in this case is always: Take the square only string in the mains and use round in the crosses. The spin is almost the same, but the friction on the longitudinal strings is reduced and thereby the durability improved.
Conclusion: The Tornado is the choice for spin-freaks, whereas Plasma HEXtreme was previously a bit too hard.
Manufacturer's Description
There has been developed a new mould with 7 corners. With this mould a straight shape is produced in the first production step. After cooling down the string is heated again and then axially twisted in a second production step. The twist- and double heating process makes this string very comfortable, the rough surface provides an exceptional spin, but the feeling is not as stiff as usual shaped strings.
