Ski touring, freeriding, skiing and cross-country skiing - Ziener focuses on versatility with its 2020/21 winter collection. Adapted to the needs and requirements of winter sports. The functional ski clothing and the new models in the Ziener glove collection were tested.
The weather forecast is promising for the first ski tour in the home mountains. The touring skis are ready and the anticipation is rising. Minus 4 degrees, sunshine and fresh powder snow, enough for the first ski tour? Almost. At the car park we exchange our skis for mountain boots and enjoy the powder snow at a good 2300 m on foot once more before the touring season really gets underway.
New at Ziener - Ziener as climate protection partner
The traditional company from Oberammergau in Bavaria has been allowed to call itself a climate-neutral company since this year 2020. The strict certification is carried out by TÜV-Austria. clues:
- The CO2 emissions at the Oberammergau site and during production are calculated.
- The Oberammergau site supplies itself with emission-free green electricity. Furthermore, the facts longevity and high-quality materials play a role.
- Ziener offsets the unavoidable CO2 with the two climate protection projects, the mountain forest project in Oberallgäu and forest protection in Mongolia. You can find more about the projects on the Ziener homepage.

Not only as a company, but also the Ziener Ex4 glove collection has been certified as climate neutral:
As different as the 3 models look, they have a lot in common. All three models have a removable inner glove. The lining is made of recycled PrimaLoft Fleece with insulation that keeps you warm even in cold temperatures. Ziener uses only vegetable-tanned, chrome-free organic goatskin as leather. All models are PFC-free.
I found the gloves to be comparatively very soft with a pleasant stretch fabric. The loose cut and long glove cuffs make the Ziener Germani Pr Mitten Ex4 one of the cosiest ski mittens.
The models are breathable and there is no unpleasant accumulation of heat in the gloves. This is thanks to the recycled PrimaLoft Fleece. PrimaLoft is a synthetic microfibre that is particularly water-repellent, extremely breathable and quick-drying.
The Ziener gloves are each available in 4 different colours: dusty grey, black, gray ink and vintage violet. The dusty grey colour with the blue decorative stitching is a modern eye-catcher for the ski lobster. When I noticed that the fingers of the Ziener Germanos Pr Lobster Ex4 Glove are separated inside, I was a bit surprised. Very practical, because you have a better feeling, but a loss of heat was noticeable.
The Ziener repair service rounds off the durable glove range. An environmentally friendly ski glove range with a high level of wearing comfort and well thought-out features. When you wear them, you notice the high quality of Ziener workmanship and the carefully selected materials.
Ziener Ganzenberg AS AW Glove Ski Alpine
A real eye-catcher from the new Ziener ski glove collection. With its modern design and striking tan black colour, the Ziener Ganzenberg AS AW Glove Ski Alpine stands out from the crowd. It not only scores points for its appearance, but also for its functionality. The Ziener AQUASHIELD® membrane makes the glove wind- and waterproof and is therefore perfectly adapted to the needs of freeriding. When worn, the reinforced palm made of goatskin helps to improve grip. The stretch leash is also practical. It also fixes the gloves to the wrist.
The Ziener Ganzenberg AS AW Glove Ski Alpine is lined with Alpine wool. Ziener obtains the wool from 100% free-range husbandry. Adapted to the body temperature and in combination with the thermoregulating merino wool, the hands remain warm and dry. A robust and stylish ski glove for unforgettable downhill runs or breathtaking powder runs.
Ziener Katara GORE-TEX PR
A perfect skiing day, even if it is not a "bluebird day". The wind- and waterproof GORE-TEX membrane is ideal for mixed weather. The Ziener Katara GTX PR is made of high-quality materials, which will not allow cold or wet hands even after a long day's skiing. With the Prima Loft lining, Ziener ski gloves guarantee warm hands even on extremely cold days. The sporty design fits perfectly thanks to the tighter cut at the wrist.
The further fixation by means of the Velcro fastener prevents the penetration of cold air. The soft leather on the palm of the hand is also striking, providing an optimal stick feeling and a firm grip. The elegant design and the colour combinations of black or black and white underline the Ziener quality. For me, the Ziener Katara GTX PR is a very high-quality and warm glove that you can rely on on long skiing days.
Ziener Gusty Touch ski gloves
If you're looking for must-have gloves, then the Ziener Gusty Touch is definitely one of them. Versatile in use, whether for the strenuous ascent on ski tours or as a glove on mountain tours during the transition period. The palm is fitted with small pressure knobs and provides the best grip on the poles. A soft POLARTEC material and stretch inserts make the glove very comfortable.
With the help of the touch function on the index fingers, you no longer have to take off the gloves when operating the smartphone, but can easily check your tour plan with the gloves on. An all-rounder that accompanies me all year round. Be it hiking, paragliding or ski touring.
Ziener ski touring clothing
Functionality and lightness are among the most important features for ski touring. This is partly due to the changeable mountain weather, but also to the different efforts during the tour.
Ziener Neta ladies hybrid jacket
The Ziener Neta hybrid jacket is suitable for ascents thanks to its well thought-out insulation. The jacket insulates with the PrimaLoft front where you need warmth. On the other hand, a stretch material has been worked into the back and arms for maximum breathability and freedom of movement. The Ziener Airflow Mesh zip on the high collar can also be opened for extra ventilation.
The hybrid jacket, which is cut close to the body, regulates the body temperature and did not cause me to overheat, even during high exertion. The windproof material also protected me from cooling down during short breaks.
Ziener Namira ladies functional pants
For ascents in warmer temperatures, you can open the side zip of the Ziener Namira functional pants along the entire length of the legs. This is guaranteed not to make you sweat and you can regulate the heat/cold supply yourself. The firmly processed fabric on the trouser leg provides edge/climbing iron protection.
Ziener Neila ladies hardshell jacket
Both the ski touring trousers and the Ziener Neila hardshell jacket sare equipped with the Ziener Aquashield membrane. This Ziener technology is waterproof (water column 10,000mm), windproof and breathable (breathability 10,000g/m²/24h). A snow guard has also been incorporated into the jacket (removable) and trousers.
All seams of the light 3-layer jacket Neila Lady are fully taped. A further highlight is the high collar and helmet-compatible hood. The plainly cut ski touring jacket is available in the colours dark navy and grey ink. All three ski touring jackets come in the normal dress size.
The individual features of Ziener winter sports clothing meet the needs of ski touring: Protects against winter weather, is hard-wearing and offers optimum freedom of movement. This turns the tours into real enjoyment tours and you can already look forward to the downhill runs in fantastic powder snow. Well equipped I am looking forward to the upcoming ski touring season. As is well known, anticipation is the greatest joy.
