One of ASICS’ top-selling shoes is getting its 19th update this year: called the ASICS Gel-Cumulus 19. This neutral running shoe is ideal for long-distance runs at a fast pace. As it’s one of ASICS’ “Sensational Six”, we’d like to take a closer look at its construction:
The Gel-Cumulus 19’s outsole is made of particularly tough non-slip rubber with AHAR+ technology that makes it extra hard wearing. The slightly curved Guidance Line supports a dynamic rolling phase and, together with the Guidance Trusstic elements, it makes your running style more efficient and stable. The necessary damping is provided by several parts of the shoe at the same time - the midsole is made of shock-absorbing FluidRide material that combines with ASICS’ famous GEL® cushion to dampen every step and provide comfort. As well as this, the heel comes with Convergence GEL® technology and GEL® Cushioning technology, both of which absorb impact and make your steps a little easier to endure.
There’s no doubt that the upper was also designed to offer functionality and comfort. The seamless mesh prevents friction against the skin and is responsible for the shoe’s good breathability. The Cumulus 19 GTX even comes with a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® membrane that keeps your foot dry and comfortable when it rains. The name of the ASICS Gel-Cumulus was inspired by the name of the Cumulus cloud - similar to the Gel-Nimbus, named after Nimbus clouds. So, time to lace up your clouds and get running :-)
