Fresh out of the lab and directly in our shop: the new Saucony Ride 9 has been available to us from 1st June 2016 and our Running PRO Laura has already tried it out. A new feature of this model is the EVERUN damping technology used in the top-sole construction that provides optimal energy return and continuous damping throughout your run. The new upper material of the Saucony Ride 9 offers an optimal fit without making the shoe any heavier.
Laura thinks the shoe has a regular fit and the sizes are comparable to those of adidas or Nike. The fit is comfortable and is ideal for runners with feet of an average width. The shoe’s Everun technology offers very soft damping that, together with the robust sole, provides Laura with “very good support, even on wet or slightly muddy surfaces”. All in all, Laura finds the shoe very comfortable. Her favourite property is the ventilation; the upper material is highly breathable and it guarantees a comfortable skin temperature.
There are a couple of downsides to the shoe, especially in terms of flexibility. Our Running PRO found the upper material was a little too rigid and she was not 100% happy with the stability either. The shoe’s small heel cap “caused me to slip, but that could also be because I have narrow feet”, and the support on the outside of the sole is “not stable enough because it is too soft”.
In conclusion, Laura would recommend the Saucony Ride 9 to neutral runners with a slow to medium pace.
