The first fresh snow is falling on the Alps, the weather and avalanche reports have been checked, the ski touring equipment is packed and off we go to the mountains. The cold of the last few days has made for fantastic powder snow. We start early in the morning.
The ski touring binding clicks into place and off we go at -3 degrees and clear skies. The tour goes about 1100 hm to the summit. It is quiet and there are no other ski tourers on the way. The flat part at the beginning of the ski tour is just right to warm up. It gets steeper and the first hairpin bends are mastered well.
The Schöffel Rognon Softshell ski touring trousers
The Schöffel Rognon Softshell Pants give enough freedom of movement with the stretch material to master the ascent quickly and in large steps. The elasticated hem with adjustable waistband sits very comfortably.
The wind- and water-repellent Venturi Softshell Stretch material has already proven itself on the last ski tour in snow flurries. Despite sleet, the drops beaded off and there was no wetness on the stretch inserts. I was pleasantly surprised that the Schöffel softshell trousers are very breathable despite their repellent function.
To prevent cooling down, it is particularly important for ski touring clothing that no moisture builds up. On the sides of the thighs, two large ventilation zips provide additional regulation of the body climate for the ascent. Another plus point are the elasticated cuffs at the level of the ski touring buckles.
These can simply be slipped over the ski boot and there is no need for cumbersome zips or press studs. The Schöffel Rognon ski touring pants fit close to the body. Even with my height of 180cm, the Schöffel trouser legs fit perfectly because three lengths are offered: Short, Regular, Long. This means that there is a suitable clothing size for everyone.

The Schöffel Seekofel Longsleeve Midlayer
The Schöffel Seekofel Longsleeve is perfect for the sweaty ascent. The collar is cut high and also keeps the shoulder and neck area warm. The longsleeve has a half zip at the front. The zip is covered at the neck section, making it comfortable to wear. The top has a long cut at the arms and sits comfortably with the regular fit.
Ice-Café™ technology
The Schöffel Seekofel L longsleeve is equipped with Ice-Café™ technology. Coffee not only wakes you up, but Schöffel also uses it in recycled form in its products. The manufacturing process can be read on the Schöffel homepage.

On strenuous and sweaty ascents, the Schöffel Ice-Café™ yarn ensures fast-drying, odour-neutralising and breathable clothing. The material is pleasantly soft. In addition, the products with Ice-Café™ technology offer UV protection.
The Schöffel longsleeve is a real all-rounder and not only suitable for ski touring. Thanks to its high breathability and soft seams, the Wintersport Shirt has become one of my favourites. I also like to wear the top on normal winter hikes or have it with me on warmer tours as a change of clothing for the descent.
From some distance you can already make out the summit cross. A glance at the sports watch - there are only a few metres of altitude left. Once at the top, we enjoy the happiness of the summit. We take off our skins and prepare our touring equipment for the descent.

The Schöffel Penia softshell jacket
As it has already become warmer, I decide to go downhill only with the Schöffel Penia Softshell jacket, the hardshell jacket stays in the rucksack today. The 3-layer Venturi Soft Shell material provides a weatherproof jacket with the outer layer and also keeps you warm on cooler descents.
Unrestricted freedom of movement is one of the most important features when ski touring. The 4-way stretch makes this possible, which is why the Schöffel Penia jacket is both downhill and uphill oriented. The high-cut hood can also be worn over the ski helmet and is adjustable with a flick of the wrist.
The sleeves with climbing fastener fit well over ski gloves. The long back also protects the lower back from cooling down and thanks to the elasticated waistband, the jacket does not slip even during a brisk ascent. The Schöffel Penia Softshell jacket has a body-hugging fit.

Conclusion
The Schöffel ski touring collection is available in well-matched colours. Light and dark colour inserts enhance the jackets and make them eye-catching. Classic and modern - just like the Schöffel company itself.
Schöffel is a 200-year-old family business from Schwabmünchen. High quality and robust sportswear are the hallmarks of the Bavarian company. Thanks to the durability of the products, the ski touring clothing remains a reliable companion even for many strenuous ascents and powder descents. After the enjoyable descent, you go home with a grin on your face. The perfect #ichbinraus moment and I'm already looking forward to the next ski tour.
