The winner of our prize draw, Bianca, has received a Peak Performance Mondo outdoor jacket courtesy of Keller Sports. She’s really put the jacket through its paces. Here’s what she has to say about it: The Mondo jacket was made of Gore-Tex® C-Knit fabric to provide wind- and waterproof protection. It’s the ideal choice for hiking, trekking and low-level mountaineering. In my case, I had the perfect chance to try it out during my one-week hiking holiday in Austria.

Peak Performance claims that “the Gore-Tex C-Knit hardshell jacket is made of wind- and waterproof material that offers lasting protection against the wind and the rain”. In actual fact, during our trip to the Nock mountains in the Austrian Alps, we had plenty of opportunities to see how the Mondo outdoor jacket behaves in regular, heavy rain showers - its waterproofing was impressive. The jacket is the result of first-class craftsmanship and is top quality. Thanks to the 28.000 mm water column, I stayed nice and dry throughout the trip. I can truly say that this jacket is completely waterproof. Peak-Performance-Mondo-Jacke-943x1024 All of the usual weak points in a jacket stayed nice and dry even in the longest showers, thanks to fully taped seams and YKK® AquaGuard® zips. This means that the side pockets stayed completely dry too, so they’re perfect for storing your phone or a small camera because you can rest assured that the rain won’t get through. A few other practical highlights of this Peak Performance outdoor jacket are the velcro straps at the cuffs, the helmet-compatible, adjustable hood and the stand-up collar, all of which shields you from both the rain and the wind.

The Mondo jacket is very breathable. You won’t get sweaty in this Peak Performance jacket, whether you’re facing ordinary challenges, like cycling to work, or bigger ones, like hiking up a mountain. If you do happen to get a bit too warm, you can just adjust the ventilation by undoing the 2-way pit zips.

The outdoor jacket is made of very hardwearing material. After wearing it for a month, day in, day out, I still can’t see any signs of wear. The low weight and volume of the jacket mean that it won’t become a burden to carry around with you if you’re not using it all the time, as you can quickly store it in your rucksack without taking up too much space. The cool thing is that water simply pearls off the surface of the jacket - a quick shake and it’s dry, so having a wet jacket in your bag is one thing less you need to worry about. Style and fit

The Peak Performance Mondo outdoor jacket fits comfortably and is quite loose, offering enough freedom of movement for sporty activities and enough space to fit one or two extra layers beneath the jacket on cold, windy days out in the mountains. The relatively long cut of the Mondo jacket means that you’ll stay warm and dry when hiking and, even if you’re wearing a heavy rucksack, the jacket won’t ride up your back. If you want to make double sure that the jacket won’t ride up, just tighten the hem with the cord stoppers.

The Peak Performance Mondo jacket was designed to be a lasting companion out in the mountains and in the city too. It’s functional, practical but also suited to everyday life. If there’s even a slight chance of rain, I’ll be bringing this jacket along with me - I’ve never had a jacket anywhere near as waterproof as this one. Thank you, Keller Sports, for giving me the opportunity to try this jacket out. Peak-Performance-Mondo-Test-576x1024
