Our partner Nike has always stood up for equal rights and opportunities in our society but the company has decided to prove its beliefs once more this year with the EQUALITY campaign. Since 2012, Nike has been relaunching the BETRUE collection every year, which supports the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ stands for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer” and unites everyone who identifies with these sexual orientations. Nike fights against the discrimination and the exclusion of this community of people. It is for this reason that the brand chose the name “BETRUE” for its collection, meaning that you should “be true to yourself”.
One of the main symbols of the LGBTQ community is the rainbow flag - this has been used by Nike when designing the products for this campaign. The rainbow flag is either in the Swoosh, in the Nike Air elements or in other areas of the shoes and pieces of clothing. The collection is made up of sports shoes, like the Nike Flyknit Racer, Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 34 and the Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit, as well as the timeless Nike Classic Cortez. Part of the BETRUE collection is also tops, t-shirt and running socks. Apart from representing Nike’s good intentions, this product selection also boasts a great look, so you can show your true colours in style - literally.
