The Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit is the newest model in the Nike running shoe family. The look is very similar to the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly Next%, but the focus is more on speed training than competition. I took a closer look at what's in the running shoe and how it runs.
About the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit
The running shoe already gives a very technical impression when you look at it and the design literally screams for speed. You can directly see the connection to the Nike Alphafly Next%, which is especially achieved through the Air Zoom chamber in the forefoot. But that's not the only thing that makes these fast running shoes stand out.
The midsole features the highly reactive ZoomX in the forefoot and midfoot, and the durable Nike React in the heel. The React in the heel of the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit makes the shoe last longer on competition day than its relatives. The ZoomX Foam, on the other hand, provides explosive propulsion for units at high pace.
This is further enhanced by the Nike Air Zoom chambers and a plastic plate in the midsole. The upper features the proven Nike Flyknit. This ensures that the runner sits securely in the running shoe and the material adapts perfectly to the foot. The outsole of the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit features abrasion resistant rubber elements for a high grip when running.
How does the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit perform
On the first few meters with the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit you can feel the high construction and you are unsure how this affects the stability. But after a short time you get a solid grip when running, more than is the case with the competition versions. This makes sense, of course, because the running shoe is primarily designed for speed training.
For added support, the outsole is wider and the Nike Flyknit Upper fits well. The Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit is the perfect fit for the Nike Air Zoom Tempo.
The different damping materials provide a strong push forward. Especially the Nike Air Zoom chambers give a strong push. Nevertheless they provide a good stability and it runs safely from step to step.

The Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% Flyknit is a real weapon for speed training. High comfort, a driving push with every step and a good stability make a Tempo training much more comfortable. I don't see it being used for short intervals on the running track, but for longer and hard pace runs over asphalt.
