Five years ago Amna Al Haddad was still a young journalist in the United Arab Emirates. Today, on 25th April 2016, she has been selected to take part in the Rio Olympics as a weight lifter.

“Before all of this happened I was depressed and a few pounds overweight. Then there came a day when I told myself: you can do much more than this. You can be better than this. Go and do something. Go for a walk”, she explained. And that is exactly what she did! She started off walking and then began going to the gym regularly. There she came into contact with CrossFit and weight lifting.

She took a leap forward in her first competition in Columbus/Ohio, US, where she met her future trainer. He invited her to train with her in the States - a development that motivated her even more and pushed her to continue.
