The Endurus TR, from The North Face®, promises optimal performance on rugged terrain and impresses with maximum comfort, thanks to the innovative Xtra Foam midsole. Whether the running shoe really does keep its promises or not is what we’re about to find out - the shoe was thoroughly tested during a trail run around Hofalm, in Aschau (Chiemgau). UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_a27b My first impressions When you unpack the shoe and hold it for the first time, you immediately want to go for an off-road run. The low weight alone is enough to get excited about but the high-quality finish and simple yet attractive overall appearance only built up my anticipation. Off I went trail running with the Endurus TR from The North Face®. When I put on the shoe, the first I noticed was that it was comfortable and light, yet offers a lot of stability to the heel and sides - the perfect recipe for a trail shoe. When it comes to running shoes, it’s the small details that make the difference; in The North Face®’s Endurus TR, this is reflected in the shoelaces. Their curved structure means that, once they’re tied, they stay in place throughout your run, so there’s no need to worry about the fit or support offered by the shoe. UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_a283 Once on the trail, the shoe shows you that this is its prime terrain. The Vibram sole leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to traction - both uphill and downhill. It also offers reliable grip on rocks, loose gravel and tree roots. Wet terrain is also no challenge for this shoe. This combined with the good support in the heel and sides means that you feel secure at all times and can rely fully on your footwear. The damping in the midsole is also very good. It’s thinner in the forefoot area to give you more wiggle room and allow you to feel the necessary feedback from the ground. Around the heel, the damping is more generous, so you can run on trails for longer and in comfort. It’s also worth mentioning that the shoe is very comfortable on the whole and well-ventilated - perfect for long, challenging trails. UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_a282 Conclusion From the test, I can conclude that The North Face® doesn’t break any promises it makes about this shoe. It’s perfect for beginners taking their first off-road steps and also for experienced trail runners who want a well-damped shoe for longer treks. Although you can use the Endurus TR on paved paths, it’s forte lies in trails. This is where you fully benefit from the sole and the damping. I tested the shoe in size EU 42, which is my usual size. I found that the shoe had a normal fit. My trail running tip: Go from Aschau im Chiemgau up a gently sloping trail up to Hofalm (approx. 400 m high). From these fields, you have a lovely view of Kampenwand and can enjoy a little rest before you head back to Aschau via the cart path or just following the way you came. Ambitious athletes have many different possibilities in this area, including a combined trail with a mountain climb up the Laubenstein, which offers breathtaking views of the Chiemsee. I wish you lots of fun during your next mountain running trip with the Endurus TR from The North Face®!” UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_a27d
