In the middle of the South Tyrol Dolomites, at the foot of the Kreuzkofelgruppe in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags natural park lies the picturesque 1,348m above-sea-level mountain village called La Val. It’s the pristine meadows, the magnificent Dolomites and the ancient wooden huts that make this village look like it comes from a picture book - and they offer hikers some fantastic views. This is why La Val was made Europe’s first certified hiking village in the summer of 2015. Many hotels, farms and shops have specialised in catering for all hikers’ every need.
Our partner AKU works with and supports the European hiking village project and has even launched a brand new shoe for this South Tyrol hiking village. The hiking shoe is called AKU La Val GTX and it comes with a low-cut version, the AKU La Val Low GTX. We now have both shoes in our selection and would like to introduce you to them. Check them out for yourself and have fun during your next hiking trip - hopefully in a picturesque village like La Val in South Tyrol.
The AKU La Val GTX impresses above all with its light weight. Weighing in at just 440g (women’s model) and 515g (men’s model), you’ll barely even notice you’re wearing the shoe during your next trip. Nonetheless, this light hiking shoe is also very functional. The practical pull loops save you the effort of lacing up. Just step into the shoe and step back out again, there’s nothing to it. The waterproof GORE-TEX® lining keeps your feet dry even on wet trails, so you feel comfortable at all times. Beneath that is a durable midsole that provides pleasant damping during every step. Apart from that, AKU has used ELICA technology when creating the La Val GTX. The system integrated into the shoe encloses the sides, the insole, the midsole and the outsole and ensures even pressure distribution throughout the foot, as well as providing support for natural movement cycles. The non-slip Pulsar outsole, designed by tyre and rubber specialists at Michelin, offers great traction on all terrains - stability guaranteed ;-)
