A few days ago, our partner adidas was at the Biofabricate conference in New York to present the first ever sports shoe made from Biosteel fibres. The whole upper is made from 100% nature-based, fully biodegradable high-performance fibres. The material is faux natural silk and is 15% lighter than conventional synthetic fibres. After launching the Ultraboost Uncaged Parley, adidas has taken the next step in environmental protection and sustainability by producing this new shoe.
James Carnes, Vice President of Strategy Creation at adidas, said: "The use of Biosteel® fibres in our products means that we achieve an incredible level of sustainability, moving us away from a closed product cycle and closer to a continuous cycle." What do you think of this idea and the shoe?
