In our last post, we share the first three of seven workout tips. Apart from warming up and making the most of power naps, having the right gear is very important if you want to give your all during training. All seven of our tips will help you take your workouts to the next level one exercise at a time.
4. Listen to the right music Music has the power to make your motivation soar and can support you before, during and after your workout. Take the time to create your own training playlist and include, for example, songs with a good beat, as these give you the energy you need while training. Another important factor to consider is having some good head- or earphones that don’t fall off/out while you run, sprint or do squats.
5. Improve your fitness level It’s actually pretty straightforward: the fitter you are on the whole, the more you can push yourself when you train. For this reason, it’s good to keep half an hour aside for some cardio exercises. Using a stepper, static bike or treadmill on a medium setting is ideal. Make sure your heart rate stays at around 60 - 75% of your maximum heart rate.
6. Eat healthily This is probably the tip most people struggle with the most, as it’s to do with everyday life and not just workout time. Nonetheless, a healthy diet is essential for improving your fitness. Eating the right foods will give you the energy you need to train and will encourage muscle growth. Just follow three simple steps: 1. When you train long and hard, make sure you eat enough carbohydrates. They’re a quick source of energy for your body. 2. Eating lots of protein and vegetables is very important for growing muscles and keeping you healthy. The extra energy you get from these foods can be used up during training and for everyday life. 3. Avoid processed foods, sugary carbohydrates and saturated fats, as these can all have a negative effect on your health.
7. Take the right supplements Eating healthily is still very important here - supplements alone can’t compensate for a poor diet. If combined with healthy food, supplements can be a great addition to your training. A protein shake after a workout will help your body recover faster so you can train again sooner.
These seven tips will help you improve your training and take your performance to the next level. “Get fit, stay fit” - that’s the motto to follow. ;-)
